Schäfer Shop increases orders up to 15 % thanks to individualized catalogs

For over 40 years SSI Schäfer Shop GmbH has been selling premium furniture and the full range of equipment for offices, warehouses and distribution as well as office supplies and technology. The service-oriented company uses physical print mailings and electronic newsletters, for example, to attract new customers and to encourage existing customers to buy. Schäfer Shop SSI relies on the prudsys Realtime Decisioning Engine (prudsys RDE for short), which is based on artificial intelligence, to put together relevant and individual contents for every customer.

The prudsys RDE records click and purchase patterns in the online shop and newsletter. Historical transaction data is added to current behavioral data to recommend every customer products of maximum personal relevance. The product recommendations exactly match the customer’s current interests. The recommendations calculated by the prudsys RDE are automatically incorporated into the newsletters and printed catalogs throughout the process.

The print product is a 16-page self-mailer catalog, printed in more than 100,000 versions featuring almost 5,000 different products. By using individualized print mailings, SSI Schäfer Shop achieved the following results compared to standard print mailings:

  • Reduced manual effort for product selection and layout thanks to process automation
  • Up to 8 % increase in sales thanks to individualized product recommendations in the 16-page self-mailer catalog
  • 2.4 % rise in the number of buyers
  • Up to 15 % increase in orders in the top customer segment
